The project will have a crucial impact on the long-term development of Svoghe Municipality and the region. The investment will create opportunities for the development of sustainable multi-faceted local businesses. It will boost consumption and trade and lower the municipality’s dependency on the National Budged owing to increased revenue from local taxes and by its share in VEZ SVOGHE OOD.

     The project’s implementation is coherent with the long-term energy strategies of the Republic of Bulgaria and corresponds to the priorities of the EU for rational utilization of renewable energy sources to help cut down on production greenhouse gases. The project is in unison with the Kyoto Treaty ratified by the Republic of Bulgaria aiming to reduce production of greenhouse gases by encouraging development of renewable energy sources.

     The project will benefit the environment by helping keep clean the waters of the Iskar River. Industrial pollution will be precipitated before it reaches the town of Svoghe instead of in the 40-kilometer zone below it, as it is done now. The oxygen content of the water will be increased which will augment the regeneration and diversification of the river’s flora and fauna

     The creation of artificial ponds will benefit the development of the tourist industry in the region. Svoghe Municipality expects that this will create opportunities for the development of water sports and angling which in turn will lead to the establishment of hotels offering high quality service to the tourists.
